Natural Planning

The Chillicothe Park District is working with the Illinois Master Naturalist, Trees Forever, United States Fish and Wildlife, Illinois Buffer Partnership and the Illinois Pollinator Program to return the Coal Hollow to its natural state.  Volunteer groups have contributed 100's of hours to preserve and protect this beautiful area.  For more information please view the Master Plan (2018 Update)or for information on how your group can Volunteer, contact the Chillicothe Park District office.

Explore the Bluffs

A portion of the trail system at Coal Hollow Park is open to the public. The 0.6 mile "Savannah Trail" is ready to be explored. The "Meadow", "Cliff", and "Woodland" trails are expected to be ready by Earth Day 2019. If your group would like to volunteer and help the CPD further develop this area, please see the "events" section of our Facebook Page.
