The Chillicothe Park District is governed by a volunteer, elected Board of Trustees. Six trustees from the voting district are elected for four-year terms. The Park Board President is elected at large for a four-year term. Board meetings are held on the second Saturday of each month at 7:00 am. Unless stated otherwise, all meetings are held at the Chillicothe Park District Operations Facility, 5407 E. Rome Road, Chillicothe, IL 61523.

Thank you for your interest in running for the Chillicothe Park District Board of Trustees.
Candidates must be a qualified elector of the park district with one-year residency within the park district taxing boundaries preceding the election. (70 ILCS 1205/2-15) A person is not eligible to serve as park commissioner if that person is in arrears in the payment of a tax or other indebtedness due to the park district or has been convicted in any court located in the United States of any infamous crime, bribery, perjury, or other felony. (70 ILCS 1205/2-11)
Our next Park Board members will be elected during the consolidated elections on April 6, 2027.
For the 2027 Consolidated Election, the Park District will have one 4-year president and three 4-year trustee seats on the ballot.
Petition circulation for park board candidates begins in August 2026. Petitions must be signed by not less than 2% of the number of ballots cast at the the last election for trustee or commissioner in the district, but in no case by less than 25. (70 ILCS 1205/2-11, 2-17) The filing period for those petitions is November 10 – 16, 2026.

Filing for the Consolidated General Election will be on business days Tuesday, November 10th to Monday, November 16th.
